What’s your number one business goal for 2019?

Win new clients? Increase revenue? Earn repeat business?

If you have a goal of growing your business this year, I have a recommendation for you that probably sounds counter-intuitive: make sustainability part of your plan.

What does going green have to do with growing business?

Think about your competitors and the events you worked on or attended in 2018. How many of them had any kind of sustainability program?

Of that group, how many did sustainability well? How many shared their results?

There are definitely event professionals around the country who are making great strides in sustainability, and I applaud their leadership and innovation. But overall, the meetings & events industry has a long way to go.

2019 is the year when sustainability will shift from a “nice to have” to a “must have” for events. Will your business be on the leading edge of that change, or struggling to keep up?

Sustainability-conscious clients will put their business with companies that show they understand the importance of green events and can provide real (not greenwashed) results.
